BONFIRE LAKE -  

Bonfire Lake was created in 1994 by way of back-flooding a large valley and as a result the environment remains totally natural being surrounded in the main by lovely woodland.  An impressive lake of some 5 acres with a large island and varying depths from 3' down to 15', Bonfire Lake was stocked with more than 500 Carp following construction, of which over 300 were particularly nicely patterned Mirrors with large plate scales and a large number of which were fully scaled Mirrors.  The rest were made up of around 150 Common and 40 Ghost Carp.  In addition to the Carp, Bonfire Lake also supports some excellent Tench and some quite outstanding Perch, some of which now exceed 4lbs!!!  

The size of the Carp now range from about 2lbs upwards.  The average is 5-7lbs but many are now well into double figures and are growing quickly.

WILLOW TREE LAKE -

A most attractive lake of some 2.5 acres, again with an island and having a depth of up to 16', which is our specimen lake.  Willow Tree Lake was completely down drained during the early part of 2003 to enable us to clear the bottom of all snags, improve the present swims and banks, and at the same time to remove a large quantity of Rudd which were starting to effect the growth rate of the Carp.   Willow Tree Lake now contains around 50 specimen Carp, the largest proportion of which are fine Mirrors, some being fully scaled, together with a number of superb Ghost Carp.  Many of the Mirror and Ghost carp are around or into their twenties and some are now approaching their thirties including one specimen Ghost Carp which is pictured here on this website.  Our longer term strategy for this Lake is to stock it with additional, high quality fish as and when they become available, and to feed the current stock heavily to enable them to increase growth rates, with the result that Willow Tree will become an outstanding large Carp water.

MATCH FISHING FOR 2008 

BONFIRE LAKE contains a large number of Rudd to over 2lbs as well as the Carp.  There are also some good Tench, Roach and some excellent Perch in this lake.

Up to 15 anglers can easily be accommodated around Bonfire Lake and there is ample parking close the Lakes.

We are now taking bookings from bona fide Club teams for the season commencing May 2008 for which the cost is £100 per day, subject to a maximum of 15 anglers.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION -   

It is the Owners' intention that the Lakes should be reserved only for the discerning angler within the framework of an exclusive syndicate known as the Carp Improvement Society (C.I.S).  The Lakes are situated on a private Farm of some 200 acres and have the benefit of easy access via a firm track and across cattle grids.  There is ample parking close to the Lakes.

Prospective new Members wishing to join the Carp Improvement Society are invited to meet initially with our Fishery Manager, who will then give a guided tour of the Lakes by appointment, following which a ONE-OFF JOINING FEE OF £100.00 will then become payable.  Guests of existing Members who express an interest in joining the C.I.S. will also be given the opportunity to fish Bonfire Lake for a full day, free of charge.

Members will now be able to fish on the basis of a Day Ticket which will involve booking in by telephone with the Fishery Manager IN ADVANCE OF FISHING.  Failure to pre-book for fishing will result in immediate disqualification from the Society.

 

The Day Ticket Prices for Members are listed below:

Day Ticket (dawn until dusk) - Bonfire Lake only - £7.50 for Members and £10 for Guests accompanied by a Member.  

Day Ticket (dawn until dusk) - Willow Tree Lake (and to include fishing on Bonfire Lake during the same day if desired) - £10 for Members and £15 for Guests accompanied by a Member and who MUST BE EXPERIENCED ANGLERS.

Night Fishing will selectively be permitted for MEMBERS ONLY (although the Society does not encourage this facility) at a cost of £10 for Bonfire Lake and £15 for Willow Tree Lake per night ticket.

PRE-BOOKING OF ALL FISHING WILL BE ESSENTIAL.
